The Kandy Perahera (Sri Lankan Procession) This is a batik painting of the Kandy Perahera procession in Sri Lanka. The Kandy Perahera is one of Buddhism's biggest annual festivals. This procession consists of hundreds of dancers, musicians and elephants performing through the streets of Kandy, which is the hill capital of Sri Lanka. The lead elephant in the procession carries the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha. This procession takes place every year in Sri Lanka, usually during the month of August and is visited by Millions of tourists from around the world. This painting is created on cotton material and is exclusively hand made with the use of dyes and wax.
